Who we are

Short answer: A photography company owned and operated by a dancer, for dancers.

Long answer: Fluid Frames was launched out of a need for accessible dance photography for professional and pre-professional dancers in the Houston area. As a professional dancer, owner and founder, Emily Roy, guides each session to ensure every photo has the dancer's technique at the forefront. Our photoshoots are carefully curated between outfit, location, and movement to ensure clients receive original, body positive, and dynamic photos.

Emily Roy, Owner/founder

Emily Roy graduated from Belhaven University with a BFA in dance and immediately began her professional career performing in Louisiana, Texas, and Washington D.C. Some of her most notable moments include features in 225 Magazine, The Advocate newspaper, VoyageHouston’s Most Inspiring Stories, and the Houston Chronicle. She danced on the runway for the Avenue Rouge Fashion Show, performed aerial harness 40 feet in the air for the Louisiana Blues Festival, and danced on noteworthy stages such as the Wortham Theater Center and Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with Houston Grand Opera and Washington National Opera.

In 2020, Emily began working with a photographer to market herself as a freelance dancer. That process led to what is now, Fluid Frames Dance Photography. Emily is passionate about providing dynamic, body-positive and “dancer approved” images; something she could never find for herself. After gaining popularity for their rooftop photos and technical accuracy, Fluid Frames is now the go-to photography company for company photos, recital photos, senior dance sessions, and all things dance photography!

Ruben Escobar, Photographer

Ruben Escobar graduated from Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and quickly jumped into the corporate world of marketing, operations, cyber security and tech. However, after he was handed a camera to document his company's networking event, his career trajectory quickly changed.

In 2015 he launched Roetographer Media Services to provide headshots and images to companies around Texas. Soon his path led him to photograph for dance companies and dance events where he ultimately connected with Emily Roy. After a couple of creative dance photography sessions together, Ruben stepped into the role of Photographer for Fluid Frames Dance Photography.

Today he serves HSPVA senior dancers taking their headshots each year, works alongside Emily and Fluid Frames to bring dynamic photography to the dance industry and still providing headshots for his corporate clientele.
